Security Bank Foundation, in partnership with One La Salle Educational Foundation, organized a three-day Leadership and Management Workshop for the principals of the Foundation’s “Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project” beneficiary schools at Hotel Benilde Maison De La Salle, Manila.
Ninety-four school heads from across the country participated in the workshop which included sessions on leadership, trends in 21st century learning, creating conducive and safe school environment, building and nourishing partnerships, managing school assets and infrastructure, disaster risk reduction and management, financial management and resource mobilization.
The President of De La Salle Philippines, Br. Armin Luistro FSC, opened the workshop by recounting his memories with public school principals during his stint as Secretary of the Department of Education. He emphasized the important role that principals play as school leaders, which represented the central theme of the workshop. “A principal’s task may be heavy, but it is a facility that would allow you to get your dreams, your heroism and your ideals to fly. You take the school in your hands and you can make that difference to your students and to your community,” said Br. Armin.
The resource persons for the workshop were top officials and consultants of De La Salle Philippines. The workshop was also awarded by the Professional Regulation Commission with 15 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units. Principals who attended the workshop can credit the CPD units earned for the renewal of their professional license.
