BDO Foundation bags CSR gold award

BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, bagged the Corporate Social
Responsibility Program of the Year Gold Award at the Retail Banking Awards 2017 held in Singapore.

BDO Foundation has achieved another feat, this time winning the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year Gold Award, the highest honor given by Singapore-based finance publication Asian Banking & Finance to corporate foundations. The foundation, which has consistently won silver awards in the past three years, bagged the prestigious gold for its rehabilitation program for rural health units.

BDO Transaction Banking Group head Edwin Reyes accepted the award at the Retail Banking Awards 2017 held in Singapore. Organized by Asian Banking & Finance, the event recognizes banks that deliver outstandingproducts and services. It was attended by more than 260 banking and insurance executives from 30 countries including China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Singapore and Thailand.

Asian Banking & Finance honored BDO Foundation and its rehabilitation program for rural health units, an initiative that has significantly improved facilities at health centers across the country, particularly those severely affected by natural or man-made disasters. Through the program, the foundation improves the health centers’ consultation rooms, treatment rooms, pharmacies, breastfeeding stations, birthing facilities, even areas for children and senior citizens, among others. These improvements translate to better patient care.

Backed by BDO’s wide network of branches nationwide, the foundation has successfully rehabilitated more than 30 health centers since 2012. The initiative fulfills BDO Foundation’s disaster response advocacy and contributes to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal number 3 to ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being of people of all ages.

According to BDO Foundation president Mario Deriquito, “The recognition we just received strengthens our resolve to continue finding ways to address the needs of our less fortunate fellow Filipinos. We share this award with our partners including local government units, municipal or city health officers and their staff, and our colleagues in BDO who have gone out of their way to help us make these projects happen.”
